Hi, I’m Jana-Lyn.
As a counsellor, I take a collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed approach to talk therapy. But don’t worry—sessions with me won’t be all couches, clipboards, and cardigans (though, let’s be honest, there might be some cardigans!).
Our work together will be just that—together. You’re the expert in your own life, and I bring my training and experience to help guide our time together. My role isn’t to tell you what’s wrong or analyze your dreams. Instead, we’ll team up to create meaningful, realistic goals that matter most to you.
At the core of my practice is the belief that a strong, empathetic connection is key to building the resilience needed to work towards many of the goals that people come to therapy for. We’ll also explore radical acceptance—learning to welcome all parts of yourself, even the messy, complicated, or uncomfortable ones.
I have experience working with the following concerns:
- Anxiety
- Anger
- Attachment
- Body Image
- Depression
- Mood regulation
- Self-harm
- Self-esteem
- Suicidal ideation
- Stress management
In our sessions, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches including Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and attachment-focused, strength-based practices—just to name a few.
I hold a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation through CCPA. While I specialize in working with adolescents, my practice is open to clients ages 8 and up.
I would also like to acknowledge that I live and work on Treaty 6 Territory—the traditional and ancestral land of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, Dakota, Lakota, Nakota, and Métis nations.
