I approach counselling from a holistic perspective, and I strive to provide a warm, inclusive, and affirming space where children, adolescents, and caregivers feel safe, respected, and supported. I center my approach from a trauma informed and personal strengths based perspective which is guided by an anti racist and anti oppressive lens.
I use an integrative therapeutic approach which may incorporate elements of Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am passionate about learning through developmentally appropriate play and fun and I value building strong therapeutic relationships. In this, I strive to move at your pace, meeting you where you are at, and working collaboratively with my clients to support meaningful and lasting growth.
My areas of interest include:
– Grief and loss
– Emotional Development (including emotional regulation and frustration tolerance)
– Mindfulness
– Adoption
– Family & Attachment Relationships
– Developmental Disorders
– Communication & Expression
– Identity & Self-Esteem
In addition to counselling, I bring 15 years of experience as an educator and hold a Bachelor of Education and Master’s degrees in Educational Foundations and Special Education. My background working closely with children, adolescents, and families continues to inform my counselling practice and supports a holistic understanding of learning, development, and well being.
I am currently completing my practicum placement as a student in the School and Counselling Psychology program (University of Saskatchewan) and am supported through ongoing clinical supervision.
