Psychoeducational Assessments

What we offer

Evolve offers comprehensive Psychoeducational Assessments for children, adolescents, and adults (ages 3 years +). The presence of a Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety & Mood Disorders, cognitive processing deficits (Intellectual Developmental Disorder), and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder may be identified.

Assessment Options

We offer a Standard Psychoeducational Assessment or a Standard Psychoeducational Assessment with the Evaluation of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The only difference between these two options is the evaluation of ASD. Each assessment evaluates an individual’s cognitive, academic, attention/executive, social-emotional, and psychological functioning. An evaluation of ASD involves investigating social, emotional and adaptive functioning, in addition to these other areas.

What to expect

Before your assessment, you will be required to complete the consent form, intake form, and any other forms you have been given. On the day of your appointment, you will spend 4-5 hours with your clinician, where you will work through a series of assessment procedures. These will include puzzles, visual games, memory tasks, questions, and also academic tasks like mathematics, reading, and writing. There may be questionnaires that you will fill out about yourself, and there may be more questionnaires you take home. Your clinician will also ask you questions about your experiences and history. Feel free to bring water and snacks as you will be given a break(s).

If you are curious about ASD related experiences, we would investigate social and emotional functioning as well. This might include a few extra tasks like building puzzles, telling stories, answering more questions, completing questionnaires, and connecting your clinician with someone in your life who can help give important perspectives about your concerns.

Following the assessment, it may take 8-10 weeks for you to receive your results. We understand the implications associated with waiting for the results. We strive to provide results in a timely manner. Once the results have been interpreted and the report has been produced (15-30 pages),
you will attend an online debrief session where the results of the assessment will be explained and diagnosis(es) will be communicated, if applicable. You will also receive a PDF copy of the report detailing the assessment results, conclusion, diagnosis(es), and appropriate recommendations for support and accommodations that are tailored to their strengths and weaknesses. You are free to do whatever you choose with the report. This may include sharing it with the school or post-secondary institution, physician or health care provider, or support system.

If you have any questions or concerns leading up to your assessment, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Evolve admin team.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Bring anything that helps you feel grounded and comfortable. Bring anything you need to stay
hydrated and energized, including water and snacks. Breaks will be provided as needed.
Please have completed any questionnaires, surveys, or forms that you may have been provided
with to help the assessment flow as smoothly as possible.

Common experiences associated with ASD include the following:
- Difficulty initiating or responding to social interactions
- Difficulty initiating or maintaining relationships
- Repetitive movements (e.g., rocking back and forth, hand clapping)
- Strong preference for sameness
- Experiencing distress with changes or transitions
- Sensory sensitivities (e.g., adverse response to certain sounds or textures)
- Highly fixated interests that are unusual in intensity (e.g., being intensely engaged in an
interest that the individual forgets to eat or sleep)
If you relate to any of these experiences, it may be worth further investigation. If you do not relate to any of these experiences, a Standard Psychoeducational Assessment would likely
suffice. If you are still unsure, please contact the admin team for further discussion.

All insurance plans are different and we encourage you to reach out to your provider before the appointment to ensure that the assessment will be covered.

We do not offer direct billing for assessments.

It depends. If your cancellation is within 24 hours of your appointment time your $200 deposit will be forfeited.

If you are cancelling more than 24 hours before your appointment then there is no charge. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

No referral is required.
